I have received a lot of queries about Mid-Term Examination(s). Please find the additional information you need below:

For Introduction to Architectural Design Exam
What shall be the paper quality?
- Paper quality; 100gr. paper minimum. 300gr. better.
- Please prepare all your work in PowerPoint (for the 2nd plate you may craft a handwork / make a freehand drawing and deliver as is OR you may take a photo with office lens, insert it into a PowerPoint slide and deliver it. Original version of your authentic work must still be delivered with your printed work in that case) Deliver both digital PowerPoint documents (via the link provided) and the printed versions (at the examination time & room)
- 1st Plate shall include all authentic material you had chosen. This is mostly a copy & paste work from the original source(s).
- 2nd Plate shall be your handmade work based on the first plate. A replica of the first plate is ok but, I prefer you read and make a commentary on the original work. A work similar to your first exercise in the class is expected. Remember that during our first exercise in the class, you selected some object and tried to read, analyze and present / describe it. Your own drawings shall be about the project you found on the internet. The main difference from the first plate is that I would like to see your own interpretation and observations about that project. You may include plan(s), section(s), elevation(s) drawings. You may include detail drawings about a portion of the project which you find interesting. You may prepare your work as a technical drawing made with ruler(s) or you may draw freehand sketches. Perspective illustrations are also welcome.
- 3rd Plate is a min. 300 word report with relevant "illustrations from the internet". Content and organization are up to your creativity. The report may include copy & paste information (from internet, magazines or books) based on your research but the overall report (in the form of text and illustrations) must be your own authentic work.
What happens if two of us work on the same project as a coincidence?
- There is a risk that two or more of you prepare the same project which is then subject to a penalty. I may not apply a penalty if your work is unique enough within the scope of the 2nd and 3rd plates.
- Coordination between all is also examined with this question. This is your responsibility. Do your best to establish the authenticity of our work.
We did not understand the question. We don't know what to do. Can you provide an example?
- Please refer Neufert pages 248-268. (pp.252-272 in Pdf navigation)
- There is a way to scale the imported SketchUp models. However, I did not teach that yet. I may suggest:
- Not to forget to select the appropriate template (Architecture, Metric, mm).
- Trying to find components that match the scale of your model.
- I would be really glad if you would be curious and figure it out yourself how to do things that are not thought in class. There are a bunch of tutorials for everything about SketchUp and other software available via search from St. Google.
About exam date postponing requests:
When you become a professional Architect, your client will request you to complete a project in "no time". Time pressure and sleepless nights are a part of our life (the Architecture profession). You must learn how to manage your (tight) schedule and to overcome time and work bottlenecks. This is a part of your education. You "must" deliver your examination papers on the day and time as announced. Postponing the deadline of submission is not possible.
